Captain Mohamed Ahmed is a seasoned aviation specialist with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He started his flying career at the Oxford Air Training Academy in 1987. After graduating, he joined Gulf Air where he flew Boeing B737, B767 as well as Airbus A340 and A320. His successful track record with the airline resulted in his appointment as A320 Chief Pilot in 2000.
Since becoming Chief Executive Officer of SalamAir in October 2017, he has led the airline through a period of fast-paced growth and development, focusing on modernizing SalamAir's operations to be innovative, cost-efficient, and customer-centric.
At SalamAir, Captain Mohamed's vision is aligned with Oman Vision 2040, which aims to develop a thriving tourism industry in the country. One of his key contributions was to create a professional team of Omani aviation experts who have helped the airline become business-sound and profitability-oriented.
Under his leadership, SalamAir has significantly expanded its network, added new destinations, and improved quality and efficiency. Captain Mohamed’s goal is to continue this trend, with plans to establish a network of more than 60 destinations and a contemporary fleet of 30 aircraft in the next five years.
While Captain Mohamed's experience includes serving as a Board Member of multiple Joint Ventures and Subsidiaries of Air Arabia Group, his primary focus at SalamAir has been to create a successful, homegrown low-cost carrier that contributes to Oman's tourism industry.
