In a significant step toward strengthening Oman’s aviation maintenance capabilities and enhancing In-Country Value (ICV), SalamAir has signed a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mach Aerospace International (MAI) to provide aircraft wheels and  brakes maintenance services in the Sultanate of Oman.   

Under the terms of the agreement, SalamAir will provide MAI with a complete set of specialized Wheels & Brakes Shop Tools for the duration of the partnership, while MAI will oversee the establishment and operation of the facility at Muscat International Airport. The workshop will be equipped to handle the repair and maintenance of aircraft wheels and brakes, serving both SalamAir’s fleet and other local and regional carriers. 

Mohammed Abdullah Al Khonji, Chairman of SalamAir, commented on the partnership:  “This agreement represents a strategic milestone in Oman’s journey toward building a diversified, knowledge-based economy and a globally competitive aviation sector. As these services will also be made available to other airlines operating from Muscat International Airport, the project will further enhance the airport’s attractiveness as a preferred regional base for high-quality technical support, contributing to future investment and aviation-related growth. This collaboration goes beyond operational efficiency; it supports Oman’s broader economic development goals by creating specialized employment opportunities, enabling technology transfer, and supporting the growth of high-value industries in line with Vision 2040. SalamAir takes pride in being at the forefront of innovative initiatives that strengthen the aviation ecosystem, enhance industrial resilience, and solidify Oman’s position as a regional hub for modern and sustainable aviation services.” 

Adding his remarks, Dr. Abdullah Masoud Al-Harthy, Chairman of Mach Aerospace International, stated: “This collaboration marks a milestone in Oman’s journey toward establishing advanced maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) capabilities. By providing the agreed-on Wheels & Brakes maintenance services, we will introduce world-class maintenance processes and technology designed to deliver faster turnaround times, extend component life cycles, and ensure the highest standards of safety and reliability.

The agreement reflects SalamAir’s strategic ambition to expand beyond passenger operations and contribute to a more integrated aviation value chain within the Sultanate. By localizing technical expertise and infrastructure, the airline is supporting industrial development, elevating national capabilities, and helping position Oman as a rising hub for aviation innovation and high-value services in the region.
